Where We Started
Before YO SKINCARE, beauty was already part of our lives. Amin brought decades of leadership in the multicultural beauty industry. Kimmy grew up around skincare through her mother, a master esthetician, and brought an eye for how skincare should feel and fit into real routines.
A Turning Point
In 2018, a serious automobile accident changed the pace of our lives. Recovery created space to reflect on family, faith, purpose and the Do-for-Self principle that shaped how we saw ownership and responsibility. We began asking what we could build together that carried more meaning than simply putting another product on a shelf.
Building YO SKINCARE
That question became YO SKINCARE. We built a straightforward face-and-body ritual around authentic Ghanaian African Black Soap, a 10-oil Facial Elixir and a 7-oil Body Oil—products designed to cleanse, moisturize, condition, soften and support healthy-looking radiance.

Over time, we returned to Ghana ourselves to strengthen the relationships behind our African Black Soap source. Heritage matters to us, but so does transparency: we want customers to understand what is in their ritual, where the story begins and why each product belongs in the routine.
Our sourcing story extends beyond Ghana. Black Seed Oil sourced from Ethiopia runs throughout the YO SKINCARE ritual—from all three African Black Soaps to the SUPA GLO Facial Elixir and Body Oil. It gives the entire collection a shared botanical thread and connects our formulas to another part of Africa’s longstanding ingredient heritage.
